BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Doug’s love for cars and all things motorized began at birth, and he’s been tinkering, tweaking, tricking out and driving cars all over the country ever since. Currently a Land Rover owner of a KTM 990 Adventure, Doug Landin is a New York native but has lived in Vail for 35 years – making him essentially a local (it takes that long). He taught skiing for 22 years and has been a real estate broker with Slifer, Smith & Frampton Real Estate since 1995. He currently serves as Chairman for the Vail Board of Realtors and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vail Automotive Classic.
Don restored two Model A’s with his grandfather in the early 1960’s, where he developed a love of all things automotive. A lifelong car afficianado, he started Cars & Coffee in the Vail Valley two years ago, where gearheads gather for car talk and show off their cars (whether finished or sporting primer) and motorcycles one or two times per month. When he is not working his car, a Superformance Cobra, he enjoys putting miles on his bicycle and selling real estate.
One of the less outspoken but very productive members of the Board, Rich loves to travel and is the quintessential outdoorsman. Vail provides the perfect landscape for his love of four-wheeling, and he often takes his Range Rover out to the back country to camp. While his wife drives a fuel efficient Prius, he also has a Honda Shadow cruiser and a KTM EXC 450 dirt bike. He started dirt biking as a kid and quickly developed an affinity for anything with a motor and wheels. Rich has traveled extensively both nationally and internationally and hopes someday to own a 1969 Camero Convertible RS/SS. Anyone selling??
Ed has spent 35 years in New York City in the magazine publishing industry. He has worked on many major magazines such as McCall’s, and Ladies home Journal and worked his way up through advertising sales to become Group publisher of Home Magazine, Elle Décor, and Metropolitan Home Magazines. Ed has launched new magazines and engineered very successful redesigns through unique creative thinking. In 2000, he became Senior Vice President, Group Publisher of CAR AND DRIVER MAGAZINE and ROAD & TRACK MAGAZINE. In that capacity he has travelled the world to meet with automotive executives, sponsor races and participate in auto shows and other automotive events including presenting the ROAD & TRACK AWARD at the Pebble Beach Concours D’ Elegance. Ed retired and moved to Colorado and currently lives in Edwards with his family.
Bob is a lifetime resident of Eastern Eagle County. His love of the automobile began when his parents bought a new 1955 Mercury two-door hardtop. It was a beauty. Bob’s early cars started with a 55 Ford. In 1967, he ordered a Mustang 390 GT convertible and he has always regretted letting that beauty go. Bob’s love for Porsche’s began when he bought a 1971 E Targa from his neighbor. 18 months later he sold the Targa and bought “Brown Car”, a 1973 911S that he still owns today. Car racing, car shows, and car events has always been a part of his life. Along the way, he has enjoyed being a home builder in Vail.
Taylor has been “herding” this crew since 2012 and keeps the behind the scenes show planning, marketing, PR, and operations moving forward each year. Taylor brings over 20 years of experience serving clients from multiple industries in marketing, branding, and events to the Vail Automotive Classic. She is not a total “gearhead” yet, but will be before we are done with her.
